Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we have a keyholding service?

As a property keyholder, you must be able to attend your premises within a 20-minute period and resolve any alarm issues. If you fail to do this on more than three occasions, the police will withdraw their response from your premises, and your alarm could be considered a nuisance.

What happens if my alarm is considered a nuisance?

If your alarm rings and proves to be a nuisance at law, the council will serve you with a Noise Abatement Notice and may have to break into your premises to disconnect the alarm. They would then re-secure the premises by changing the locks and charge you for the time and the money spent in turning the alarm off. This could be as much as £300.

Failure to comply with the Abatement Notice is a criminal offence and the council can prosecute you. If found guilty, you may have to pay a fine which could be as much as £5,000 for residential premises, and £20,000 for commercial premises.

How do I get a quotation?

Thanks for your interest. You can request a free quotation via our contact form or give us a call on 01923 801476.

OK, what’s the next stage?

Once you have received your quotation, we will send out an experienced surveyor to your premises to carry out a premises survey and draw up your “site instructions”. This is used as an instruction tool for the keyguards that attend your premises in the event of an alarm activation.

The full process is described in the “Process & Operation Explained” section.

Do I need to provide you with anything?

As the keyholding charge is payable in advance, we prefer to collect this at the time of the survey. We also require keys to the premises, alarm codes and any other relevant information relating to your premises and alarm system.

When we provide your quotation, we’ll send you a list of essential information and requirements.

How long is the contract for?

Our standard contract period runs for twelve months but we do offer shorter-term contracts. Please get in touch for further details.
